Anhar Salem
Laureate 2025
is the laureate of the 2025 Reiffers Art Initiatives Prize.
Born in 1993 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Anhar Salem lives and works between Jeddah and Paris. A self-taught artist, she first studied computer science at the Arab Open University in Jeddah before pursuing a postgraduate program at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in Tourcoing, France.
Drawing on her personal experience with social media and the endless streams of images available online, Anhar Salem explores themes such as self-representation and the virtual extension of our lives on social networks. In her work, reality and digital worlds merge into a single hybrid universe. She is also interested in the ways we socialize online, as well as in the images that circulate on these platforms—informing us, shaping our perceptions, and influencing our collective imagination.
“I am very pleased to present the fourth edition of the Reiffers Art Initiatives Prize, an exhibition bringing together five emerging talents from the contemporary art scene. Multidisciplinary artists engage in dialogue through their installations, photographs, and videos. Each of them contributes to the cultural vibrancy and diversity of our country. Congratulations to Anhar Salem, who is receiving growing recognition and whom we are proud to support as she takes a new step forward with major institutions and the public.”
