Minh-Lan Tran

Minh-Lan Tran was born in 1997 in Hong Kong and currently lives and works in Paris. Minh Lan Tran’s practice brings together painting, writing, and performance to explore the interplay and resistance between language, movement, and matter.

Biography

Writing plays a central role in her process, informed by principles of choreography and spatial distribution.
Rooted in diverse traditions and histories, her work addresses themes of social unrest through embodied forms of expression. Across these approaches, the artist prioritizes embodiment over representation. Upcoming solo exhibitions include Fondazione Giuliani (Rome, 2026), the Museum of Modern Art (Warsaw, 2026), and the Biennale de Lyon (Lyon, 2026).
Recent solo exhibitions include Balice Hertling (Paris, 2025), Francis Irv (New York, 2025) and Jan Kaps (Cologne, 2023). Group exhibitions featuring her work include Château La Coste (Aix-en-Provence, 2025), the Museum of the Home (London, 2023), and Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin, 2023). She holds an MA in Byzantine Studies and Visual Theology from the Courtauld Institute of Art, London (2020), and in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London (2023).
